FAQ

Where is the VIN located?

The VIN can be found on the driver's side dash near the windshield or on the driver's side door.

There is no Scan button. Scanning was added to version 3.0. Scanning is only available for iPhone3GS and 4 users. It requires an autofocus camera.
The VIN won't scan. Follow the tips on the scan screen. Hold the phone steady 3-5 inches away from the VIN and give your camera time to autofocus. Make sure there is enough light. Reduce glare on the VIN.
There is an extra character on scanned VINs. An extra bar character is appearing on some scanned VINs. Version 3.1 corrects this problem.
Why wasn't the VIN valid? ALL VINs are 17 characters long. There are no letters I, O or Q. The I is a 1, the O is the number zero.
The VIN I see has less than 17 characters. The VIN Inventory app is for North American cars made after 1981.
The VIN wasn't found. Our VIN database has over 20,000 entries and is updated regularly. The vehicle may have just come on the market or it may be an unusual foreign vehicle for which we do not collect data.
The vehicle equipment list is short. The vehicle list scrolls on both the display screen and the detail screen.
The equipment list was missing items or had extra items.

Every effort is made to include the standard equipment for the model. We do not guarantee that every option found on the vehicle will be listed, or that every equipment item on the list is present on the vehicle

Please review the actual vehicle to verify the equipment listed.

How are the vehicles listed? The list of saved vehicles is sorted by year and then by mfr. Newest vehicles are at the top of the list.
Where is the note I added? Any note you add is shown at the bottom of the detail screen.
I want to add a photo or details to a vehicle I saved. With version 1.0 a photo or details can only be added before you save the information. Version 2.0 allows you to edit the photo and details of a saved vehicle.
Will you offer new features? We are currently working on several new features - including the ability to print the information that is displayed.
